Overview

Welcome to this training course on Higg FEM V4.0 – ‘Energy and GHG Section’.

On completing this training, learners will get a complete overview of the requirements and guidelines to complete all 3 levels of the Higg FEM (V4.0) Energy and GHG Section.

The Training program is run entirely online in the form of an audio-visual learning. You will be able to take the training at your convenient time. The Technical Content in the Training is interspersed with Activities, Knowledge Checks, and downloadable Resource Materials.

You will be given access to the training course for 6 Months from the moment you launch the course.

The overall duration of this training is 4-5 hours.

Structure

Higg FEM V4.0 Energy and GHG Section – Level 1

• Understanding the use of energy in Textiles
• GHG Emissions and sources
• Defining and measuring GHG Protocol Scope 1,2,3
• Energy based concepts such as Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs), Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Carbon Off-sets
• Tracking and reporting Energy sources
• Report their Energy Use based on their purchased electricity, purchased renewables, onsite renewables and relevant EACs.

Higg FEM V4.0 Energy and GHG Section – Level 2

• Setting a foundation for reducing Energy and Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG Emissions.
• Creating a process to identify and analyze key energy-consuming operations and processes.
• Establishing goals for Energy and Scope 1 and Scope 2 Emissions reductions.
• Creating strategies to replace Coal with cleaner alternatives.
• Performing Energy Audits to uncover improvement opportunities.
• Showing progress by lowering Energy Consumption.

• Identification and Calculation of Scope 3 GHG emissions.
• Setting GHG reduction target in line with the ‘Science Based Target’
• Formal plans and actions to phase-out fossil fuels other than coal
• Replace on-site fossil fuel use with renewable energy
