Exposure of Hazardous Chemicals can pose a risk to the human health and the environment. It is imperative that anybody exposed to chemicals in the workplace should be properly trained on how to identify chemicals, understand the threats a hazardous chemical pose, and be able to safely remediate a hazardous chemical situation.
This course on “Classification of Physical hazards” is based on the United Nations ‘Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals’ (Revision 9, 2021) or the GHS Purple Book.
According to GHS, there are 17 Hazards classes in Physical Hazards.
Physical hazard is based on the intrinsic properties of the chemical. Any chemical that has the potential to cause physical harm to the humans and the property will be classified in this group. Physical harm caused due to fires, explosions, projectiles, oxidation are included in physical hazards.
In this course, the learner will be able to understand all classes and categories of physical hazards and the measures to work safely with these chemicals.
The technical content is interspersed with Activities, Case Studies, and downloadable Resource Materials.
