Overview

Welcome to this training course on Higg FEM V4.0 - ‘Wastewater Management’ Section.

This training course offers a comprehensive overview of the criteria necessary to achieve all 3 levels of the Wastewater Management section.

The Training program is run entirely online in the form of audio-visual learning. You will be able to take the training at your convenient time. The Technical Content in the Training is interspersed with Activities, Knowledge Checks, and downloadable Resource Materials.

You will be given access to the training course for 6 Months from the moment you launch the course. The overall duration of this training is 4-5 hours.

Structure

• Difference between direct and indirect discharge and the types of wastewater generated and discharged from manufacturing facilities
• Commonly used terms in wastewater management
• Basic elements required in a Wastewater Emergency Plan
• Tracking programs for wastewater quantity and quality
• Legal requirements and industry/brand wastewater guidance
• Actions needed to ensure off-site treatment facilities are complying with applicable regulations/discharge limits
• Emergency Preparedness (Storm water collection, ETP Disruption, system overload)
• Requirements to classify and manage sludge from wastewater treatment facilities
• Industry Standards reporting wastewater quality
• Septic Wastewater management

• Testing to meet ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines for Foundational Level Conventional Parameters and Anion, and Heavy Metals.
• Ensuring ZDHC MRSL Parameters are not detected in wastewater.
• Monitoring domestic wastewater sludge.
• Maintaining manifests or similar documentation for domestic wastewater sludge.
• Considering upgrades to the septic wastewater treatment system.
• Reviewing quality test results from the offsite wastewater treatment plant.

• Facility’s engagement with Off-site wastewater treatment plants for improvement in their processes.
