Overview

Welcome to this training course on ‘Water Use’ section of the Higg FEM V4.0.

By the end of this training, learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of the requirements necessary to achieve all 3 levels of the Higg FEM V4.0 Water Use Section.

The training program is delivered entirely online through audio-visual modules, providing flexibility for learners to take the training at their convenience. The Technical Content in the Training is supplemented with Activities, Knowledge Checks, and downloadable Resource Materials.

You will be given access to the training course for 6 Months from the course launch. The total duration of the training is approximately 5-6 hours.

Structure

Higg FEM V4.0 Water Use Section – Level 1

• Common sources of water use at manufacturing facilities and its impact on the environment
• Tracking and reporting Water sources for domestic and well as production processes
• Tools for measurement and determining the facility's most significant sources of water use
• Identifying water intensive operations
• Reporting groundwater abstraction restrictions 
• Processes to inspect and monitor water supply network for leaks

Higg FEM V4.0 Water Use Section – Level 2

• Establishing a baseline for reducing Water consumption.
• Executing a water balance/water analysis to pinpoint and prioritize reduction measures
• Establishing goals to decrease blue water use and increase grey water use
• Setting objectives to enhance rainwater harvesting capacity at the facility
• Creating strategies to enhance water management
• Illustrating progress through reductions in blue water use and increases in grey water use

Higg FEM V4.0 Water Use Section – Level 3

• Eliminating or reducing the use of groundwater for production
• Demonstrating the reduction of absolute blue water use at the facility
• Reporting water risk and consumption data using an external standard or platform such as GRI/CDP
• Demonstrating positive impact on the water catchment area or water source in the community
• Developing plans to implement leading technologies to reduce water use
• Setting Science Based Targets for water use
