Overview

Welcome to this course on ‘Wastewater Section' based on Higg FEM V4.0. This course aims to provide an insight of Wastewater Management in facilities.

 

On completing this course, participants will be able to understand the different types of wastewater discharge, and establish a wastewater quality and quantity tracking program. The course will also provide an understanding of basic as well as industry standards of wastewater parameters, and commonly used treatment technology and processes to treat industrial and domestic wastewater. Participants will learn about the best practices for wastewater and sludge disposal, emergency planning for wastewater treatment operations and how to engage with third party treatment facilities. 

 

In order to effectively cover the Higg FEM Wastewater Section, the training is divided into 3 E-Learning courses. 

  • Course 1 - Introduction to Wastewater and Questions 1 to 4 of the Higg FEM Wastewater Section
  • Course 2 - Questions 5 to 10 of the Higg FEM Wastewater Section
  • Course 3 - Questions 11 to 18 of the Higg FEM Wastewater Section

 

The Training program is run entirely online in the form of an audio-visual learning. You will be able to take the training at your convenient time. The Technical Content in the Training is interspersed with Activities, Knowledge Checks, and downloadable Resource Materials.

 

You will be given access to the training course for 6 Months from the moment you launch the course.

The duration of each course is 60-75 minutes. 

 

Structure

This course will provide the participant with an outline on the details required to be filled in the Wastewater Section of the Higg FEM self-assessment. Additionally, the following topics will be covered in the Training-

 

  • Difference between direct and indirect discharge and the types of wastewater generated and discharged from manufacturing facilities
  • Commonly used terms in wastewater management
  • Basic elements required in a Wastewater Emergency Plan
  • Tracking programs for wastewater quantity and quality
  • Legal requirements and industry/brand wastewater guidance
  • Actions needed to ensure off-site treatment facilities are complying with applicable regulations/discharge limits
  • Emergency Preparedness (Storm water collection, ETP Disruption, system overload)
  • Requirements to classify and manage sludge from wastewater treatment facilities
  • Industry Standards reporting wastewater quality
  • Septic Wastewater management
